An opportunity exists to work in a busy and varied ophthalmology department alongside the multidisciplinary team of orthoptists, ophthalmologists and nurses. There is a varied caseload with visiting ophthalmologists subspecialising in multiple areas including vitreo-retina, paediatrics, oculoplastics and glaucoma, in addition to general ophthalmology services.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Demonstrate competent knowledge, expertise and skill in the provision of orthoptic services commensurate with level of experience in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, existing evidence-based practice and established clinical protocols.
- Participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient/client care, including the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the work environment.
- Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the Orthoptic Service and the multi-disciplinary team, as well as engaging in professional development activities to ensure maintenance of registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board and eligibility for professional membership with Orthoptics Australia.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and patient records in line with Departmental, Unit and Health Service procedures, and contribute to the maintenance of accurate and timely information systems (statistics collection, quality data).
