Geosynthetic testing is a specialist field requiring engineering expertise to provide support to our clients in the infrastructure and mining sectors. Materials tested are primarily for waste containment facilities to ensure the long-term durability of these materials to prevent contamination of the environment.

**Job Summary**

Performing day to day activities of the laboratory, including quoting, analysis and reporting on projects, testing of materials and assigning of employees work making operational or staffing adjustments. Maintaining ISO quality management system, including maintenance and calibration of equipment, training employees.

**About the role**

This is an excellent full time opportunity for an immediate start with our laboratory in Malaga. As this is a new laboratory the role will have a great deal of independence with technical and administrative support provided from the head office on the Gold Coast.

This position is perfect for someone with an engineering background/experience who would like to work in a laboratory environment which requires a high level of attention to detail and at same time includes communicating with clients and providing solutions.

**Responsibilities**

The position will be responsible for:

- Communicating directly with clients and preparing quotations with the support of the Australian Director
- Performing routine to complex lab testing for specialist materials
- Maintain the laboratory in accordance with ISO17025 requirements
- Performing equipment calibration, care and maintenance
- Following through on customer-initiated enquiries
- Building and maintaining sustainable customer relationships
- Conduct procedures safely and maintain good housekeeping of laboratory an surrounds

**Selection criteria**

This role would suit someone who has experience as a senior laboratory technician or laboratory Supervisor. To be successful in this role the following competencies are essential:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering
- Experience in a geosynthetic or geotechnical laboratory
- Current Driver’s License
- Ability to think on your feet and find solutions
- A polished professional communication style
- Excellent time management skills
- High attention to detail
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Self-motivated and enjoy face to face contact with clients
- Mechanical understanding of machinery would be beneficial

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
