Casual Dog Walker

Inner West Walkies is looking for a dedicated and passionate dog lover to join our friendly team of Dog Walkers in Rozelle, Sydney

Casual Employment with the potential to turn into part time or full time for 10-15hrs per week to start but more as the business grows. Must be available Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8am
- 2pm. The work involves picking up dogs from their homes in our van, taking them to local parks in groups of four, providing a safe, supervised environment for our dogs to explore the Inner Wests beautiful off leash parks and dropping them home again.

There is the potential for pet sitting/house sitting work if you would like

You must be honest, reliable, big hearted, fun, positive, fit and active, switched on and able to be fully present and focused while out with the dogs.

A love and familiarity with dogs of all shapes and sizes is a must and while previous work with animals is desired it’s not essential as all training will be provided.

We are fully insured and provide a professional, reliable service with quality care and a high level of attention.

The Role:

- Pick up dogs from client’s homes, being a confident, safe driver with license is essential and able to use GPS until you develop a familiarity with the neighbourhood
- Walking groups of 4 dogs in all weather conditions, if it’s raining dogs still need walks
- Ensuring the safety of the dogs and any person/dog around them. We are responsible for our dogs behaviour in the parks and ensuring everyone feels safe
- Making your walks fun and interesting for our dogs. Ensuring each dog receives plenty of exercise, play and toilet time. Poo pick up and disposal is a part of the job.
- Monitoring dogs health on walks. We get to know our dogs like they are our own and keep an eye out for injury, sickness, change in behaviour etc and report to clients

You will be provided with your own equipment, car, leashes, towels, treats, balls and so on.

*The ability/availability to work during school holidays is essential

About you:

- You must be passionate about dogs, knowledge of dog behaviour and body language and have experience of looking after dogs either through previous work, owning your own pets or volunteer experience.
- You’re adaptable and able to make quick decisions, show foresight and exhibit strong initiative and common sense. Being a dog walker requires you to be constantly tracking your dogs behaviour and the environment around you
- Possess exceptional interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
- Have a positive attitude and patience with the ability to deal with the challenge of balancing dog walking, pet care, humans and driving in busy traffic daily in all weather conditions
- Effective time management to ensure walks are kept to schedule
- You must be physically fit and willing to walk in all weathers (this is all seasons) and capable of handling strong bouncing dogs.
- MUST Hold a full Driving License
- NSW Police Check - this can be applied for during the interview process should you not hold a current check.
- Hold excellent work references - these do not have to be animal-related, many dog walkers come from varied fields
