**OVERVIEW**

Allship Engineering are seeking a Marine Systems Technician for work in the Sydney region. Technicians may be required to travel interstate up to 4 weeks at a time throughout the year. This role will primarily be performed at Potts Point.

Marine Systems Technicians are responsible for eliminating the need to work on live electrical and mechanical equipment on Naval vessels during maintenance periods. Technicians work collectively with Prime Contractors, Navy Engineering staff, and repair agents to ensure maintenance is conducted in a safe manner.

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- In conjunction with the system/equipment owner, confirm electrical/mechanical isolation requirements
- Eliminate the need to conduct working on live electrical equipment
- Understand testing procedures and be competent in the use of testing equipment
- Assess and approve all activities where hazardous energy may be present and issue permit to work
- Attend the worksite and verify all isolations are complete
- Where the technician identifies instances of incomplete isolations, detached or missing physical locking devices, report findings to the Critical Risk Management Coordinator, system/equipment owner, and enter into the Event Management System or equivalent
- Complete their personal danger tags, record details of their personal danger tags in accordance with system/equipment owners’ processes and place at point(s) where isolations and master tags are applied
- On completion of the activity, attend and inspect the workplace; if safe to do so, ensure personal danger tags are removed from isolation points; ensure relevant Danger tag log is updated and close Permit to Work
- Conduct equipment inspections utilising Allship proformas
- Attend Critical Risk meetings as the Allship Engineering representative
- Liaise with client to prioritise scheduling of isolations
- Conduct High Risk tasks within scope of High-Risk Work Licence
- At all times, do all that is reasonably practicable to ensure your own safety, and the safety of people around you
- Assist in WHS consultation by providing feedback through Pre-Start meetings, Toolbox Talks and Safety Stand-downs
- Comply with Client and Site requirements as detailed in Client Inductions, Site Inductions and as directed by Client Safety Officers
- Advise Supervisors of any conflict with clients and Allship employees
- Foster and develop harmonious relationships with clients and fellow employees.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (MEM30205) or higher (essential)
- Construction white card (essential)
- C class driver’s licence (essential)
- RIIWHS202E - Enter and work in confined spaces (desirable)
- RIIRIS201E - Conduct local risk control (desirable)
- MSMWHS201 - Conduct hazard analysis (desirable)
- MSMWHS217 - Gas test atmospheres (desirable)
- MSMPER200 - Work in accordance with an issued permit (desirable)
- MSMPER300 - Issue work permits (desirable)

**PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Marine Trade or Systems Engineering
- Ability to read, understand and complete Risk Assessment Tools
- Ability to read, understand and complete Inductions and Safety questionnaires
- Ability to read and understand engineering schematics/drawings
- Communication skills adequate to work safely in Industrial and marine workplaces
- Physical ability to climb ladders and stairwells on ships
- Willingness to travel at short notice
- Basic computer skills such as using Microsoft 365.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $55.00 per hour
