You will perform pre-analytical processes consistently and accurately, by maintaining competency in all areas of CSR including but not limited to specimen processing, data entry, aliquoting and referral of specimens.

**In addition to this, you will**:

- Perform collection of appropriate quality blood and non-blood specimens from clients of Pathology Queensland as per documented protocols and general laboratory duties when required by service delivery.
- Ensure correct patient identification, labelling and collection techniques are followed according to documented policies and procedures when required by service delivery.
- Participate in relevant ongoing education and assist in staff training.
- Liaise with patients, colleagues, health practitioners and clinical staff in a professional manner to ensure the correct collection and processing of specimens and efficient operation of the specimen reception and specimen collection departments.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Demonstrated experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pre-analytical processes in a complex specimen reception/specimen collection unit.
- Ability to efficiently prioritise workloads, show initiative, problem solve and work effectively without direct supervision.
- Proven ability to work effectively as a team member working across the 24/7 period and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues, including the ability to work across the TPCH Group Laboratories.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in quality and service improvement activities in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation / certification.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Mandatory Qualifications - Nil.
- While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology (Laboratory Assistance/Technique) or equivalent would be well regarded.
- This position requires the incumbent to participate in rosters that may include day, evening and overnight shifts as well as weekends and public holidays as required.
- Pathology Queensland TPCH is the group coordinating laboratory in a group of three laboratories located at The Prince Charles, Caboolture and Redcliffe Hospitals. All laboratories are accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA). It is laboratory service policy to encourage interchange of staff between the Redcliffe, Caboolture and TPCH Laboratories to foster close liaison between the laboratories and professional development of all staff within TPCH Laboratory Group.
