**Therapist/Counsellor Job description**:
**About Senami**:

Our Practice is committed to providing intensive support, counselling, case management and psychotherapy services to achieve positive outcomes for clients. Our work is person-centered and uses personal interests and normative commitments to increase individuals’ awareness of their core values and assist them to translate this awareness into a concrete intervention plan.
**Time commitment**:Part-time 3 days a week with possibility to extending to full-time
**Location**: Senami offices and other community and client locations
**Key clients**:Senami clients with complex mental health service needs
**Job responsibilities**:
- Provide mental health counselling to individuals, groups or families
- Coordinate treatment planning and maintain on-going contact with outpatient providers for the continual care of patients
- Work closely with all members of the healthcare team in development of the plan of treatment which includes discharge plans, based on psychosocial assessment and social work interventions
- Conduct initial assessments of clients to determine needs and goals
- Research and advocate for appropriate public assistance resources for clients
- Develop, review and assess behavior support plans
- Facilitate case meetings and provide crisis intervention as required
- Provide implementation and training of behavior support plans to all relevant stakeholders
- Address referrals from providers including self-referral and telephone inquiries
- Participates and daily huddles to assess needs and coordinate services
- Maintain daily scheduled appointments in our electronic records systems
- Provide therapeutic services to clients and their families
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including external partners
- Completes required documentation and paperwork including biopsychosocial assessments and treatment planning and implementation in a timely manner
- Demonstrate cultural competency and commitment to patients and the philosophy of the agency
- Maintain the assigned case load and perform other duties as required
- Ensure that all case files and records strictly comply with policies, regulations and procedures
- Actively participate in training as required to meet all certification standards and policies
- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of referral resources throughout the service area
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including clinical progress notes according to company policy
- Provide positive customer relations and service in dealing with patients, families, physicians, member of the healthcare team, referral sources and others
**Qualities of a successful applicant**:
- Knowledge of various psychotherapy techniques with a focus on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and DBT
- Experience working with people with a disability who exhibit behaviors of concern
- Knowledge of the concepts and principles of psychotherapy and caring for patients in different developmental stages throughout the life cycle
- Understand the NDIS and the service delivery model
- Knowledge of electronic medical records and community resources
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices which includes trauma informed care framework and working with co-occurring populations
- Willing to travel locally when required
- Maintain a professional licensure
- Behave ethically and professionally and perform in the company’s best interest
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Capable of working with a diverse population and collaborate well with others
- Have emotional resilience and stability especially when dealing with crises
- Dedicated and willing to commit to your job role and attend all client facilities to ensure that needs are met to your best ability
- Comply with all organizational policies, procedures and practices. Always uphold our standards of excellence while engaging with Senami and clients.
- Ability to make routine decisions and determine proper action based on experience within the limits of policy and procedures
**Qualifications required**:
- Master and/or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (eg. Psychology, Social Work)
- Valid South Australian Driver’s license
- Current NDIS Worker’s check, DCSI-disability check, DCSI- children check, national police clearance report and all valid checks
**Experience**:
- One-year full-time experience as a psychologist, accredited social worker, counsellor in mental health or disability sector preferred
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week
