**Pillar** is a small cafe in Burwood focussed on providing great **service**, specialty **coffee** and simple but creative **eats** for breakfast and lunch. We're lovers of good **design** and appreciate **quality** over complexity. We are hiring a **passionate **and **experienced** **barista **with a commitment to **excellence **and **quality** in their craft.

**We're looking for**:

- at least 2 years experience as a barista in specialty coffee (3+ years preferable)
- genuine passion and interest in specialty coffee
- maintaining quality standards of coffee via dialling in and adjusting recipes if necessary
- be able to assume responsibility for all aspects of the coffee bar, particularly when head barista is unavailable.
- proficient and consistent in latte art
- be capable of completing all daily operations of the coffee bar
- be willing and able to contribute ideas to better the quality of our coffee-making
- being able to read and listen to customers to determine beverage preferences, make recommendations and advise and educate on specialty coffee products if prompted
- capable of opening and closing up the shop on relevant shifts
- prepare beverages following recipes
- manage inventory and ordering to ensure cafe is well-stocked
- adhering to food safety regulations
- handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, balancing the cash register and familiarity with Square POS system
- maintaining a clean workspace
- friendly and considerate attitude
- confident and articulate in communicating with customers
- takes initiative
- a good team player, willing to help out where necessary
- ability to work consistently under pressure during busy period

**Availability**: 3-4 days per week, (roster dependent) 2 days on Monday - Friday + Saturday and Sunday

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $28 - $38 per hour

**Schedule**:

- 8.5hr Day Shifts (6:30am-3pm) including 45 minute lunch break
- Weekly Roster Dependent
- Day shift
- Morning shift
- Public holidays
- Shift work
- Weekend availability

**Supplementary Pay**:

- Penalty rates (Weekend, Public Holiday, Overtime)
- Tips
