**Learning Specialist for Performance, Pedagogy and Academic Emphasis**
The Learning Specialist for Performance, Pedagogy and Academic Emphasis builds the capacity of teachers to lead a rigorous, productive, orderly and focused classroom learning environment. They drive the communication and evidence-based implementation of classroom rules and routines that support students in being ready to engage, and in turn, facilitate their learning.
This learning specialist is responsible for professional learning, mentoring and induction activities around classroom management, academic accountability, and the teaching and maintenance of an explicit behaviour curriculum. As part of the learning specialist team, they lead components of induction and instructional coaching. As part of the leadership team, they support the implementation, coordination and evaluation of a wide range of College programs that enhance academic emphasis.

**Major tasks, accountabilities and areas of responsibility**:
- Leading the implementation and documentation of College wide approaches to establishing and explicitly teaching positive rules for learning, including the development of policies, student and teacher resources.
Supporting the organisation, implementation and evaluation of College programs that enhance Academic Emphasis including but not limited to: Reset Learning, learning behaviour data monitor, Academic Catch Up, Student Learning Conferences, Personal Development, transition and new student inductions.
Ensuring teachers are implementing consistent and effective classroom practices through instructional coaching and the induction of new staff.
- Leading the implementation and documentation of College wide approaches to establishing and explicitly teaching positive rules for learning, including the development of policies, student and teacher resources.
- Select and document a small number of norms, rules and routines designed for simplicity that are explicitly taught and practised so students can develop automaticity and focus on their learning.
- Ensure classroom rules and routines align with school-wide processes and policies for consistency and predictability, and are used across the College.
