**Position Information**:
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
**About the Role**
Schools as Community Centres (SaCC) projects are located in NSW public schools in communities experiencing marked challenges of disadvantage.
SaCC facilitators are responsible for coordinating and managing a range of community engagement initiatives and programs to enhance the early learning and wellbeing of children ranging from birth to 8 years of age. SaCC facilitators utilise a child-focused, family centred prevention and early intervention service model.

- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or Diploma of Early Childhood and Care or demonstrated equivalent experience or capability

Canley Vale Public School is a large, dynamic and complex school located in metropolitan South West Sydney catering to the needs of 880 students P-6 and their families. We currently have 32 mainstream classes K-6, four Preschool classes and a Schools as Community Centre (SaCC). The school serves a culturally diverse community with 98% of students identified as EAL/D; Chinese, Vietnamese and Khmer are the most highly represented cultures, however, recent newly arrived students and their families are of Arabic, African and Pacific Island background. Some families identify as refugees.
The school provides a wide range of academic and extra-curricular programs aimed at developing the 'whole child'.
The school is a hub of the local community and often serves as a meeting place for parents. It also provides a venue for weekend Community Language schools and an OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) facility. Community Liaison Officers assist the school to maintain positive and open channels of communication between staff, students, parents and community members.
The SaCC program runs four days a week with both community and supported playgroups. Parent groups meet regularly for workshops and ongoing programs in partnership with external agencies.
