**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Council's Community Development team is responsible for the delivery of high quality community support services across community development, grants, funding, volunteering, aboriginal engagement, crime prevention and targeted early intervention support.
We have an exciting opportunity available for a passionate professional to join the team in this new and exciting role. The Domestic and Family Violence Officer will utilise their experience within the sector and high-level community engagement skills to work with community organisations, residents, stakeholders and Council staff to implement Council’s Domestic and Family Violence Action Plan and drive outcomes through the DFV Hub.
The successful applicant will require:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in the Domestic and Family violence sector
- Demonstrated experience in the community services sector and understanding of community development and community engagement
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with new and emerging communities including capacity building initiatives that achieve tangible outcomes at a local level
- Financial management experience including ability to maintain accurate financial records and monitor expenditure
- Demonstrated project management skills, including sound knowledge and experience in planning, implementation and evaluation of community programs
- Highly developed organisational skills, including excellent time management, attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage competing priorities under pressure
- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse range of groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with the community, local businesses, local organisations, institutions and government bodies to achieve tangible improvements for an area
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, conduct effective consultations with individuals, community groups and organisations, government agencies, service providers and the Council
- Innovative and analytical thinking to solve complex issues and to recommend long term strategic directions
- Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of high-quality customer service and conflict resolution
- High level administrative skills, including attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records and advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.
This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.
**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,584.79 to $1,822.51 per week, plus 10.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
