**About the Role**:
As one of the Head of Department's you will have the responsibility for the following:
Pastoral Care and House Culture
- Develop a sense of house identity and facilitate staff and student participation
- Lead the development and implementation of the school pastoral care program
- Welcome new students to your house
- Encourage participation in school life; in sport, culture, service and academic activities
- Liaise between school and home for students in their house
- Conduct House parades
- Lead House meetings with relevant house staff
- Regularly communicate with staff to foster a positive house and school culture
- Promote health and wellbeing of students through the coordination of whole school events (e.g. awareness days, Harmony Week etc) and inter-house events
- Lead our student leadership program
- Attend and assist at school events as required
- Support house initiatives
- Play an active role in supporting student success at schoolAttendance
- Monitor attendance, punctuality and truancy; liaise with parents regarding attendance and support to improve attendance
- Monitor house attendance and address issues such as truancy in line with the school's attendance policy
- Implement strategies to improve student attendance
- Design attendance support plans with students and parents or learning engagement plans
- Liaise with teachers and Heads of Department regarding attendance
- Work in collaboration with the Student Support Team to track student wellbeing data sets; student referrals, attendance, individual behaviour support plans, individual attendance support plans, student monitoring cards as part fo student wellbeing interactive meetingsGeneral
- The position requires commitment to our vision to Exceed your Expectations and our values. These roles require the ability to make informed decisions quickly and effectively, have a good knowledge of school policies, procedures and activities, and be innovative in their thinking. This role necessitates intentional collaboration and consultation between fellow Heads of Departments, Guidance Officers, School Based Youth Health Nurse and Deputy Principals, and an ability and willingness to operate as part of a team in managing student wellbeing, development and standards.These positions are rewarding and fulfilling, promoting personal and professional development for staff aspiring to school leadership in the future.
