We are seeking an agile, experienced and professional Head of Human Resources to lead our HR function. As a key member of the executive team, you will drive our people strategy, ensure alignment with our business objectives, and foster a positive workplace culture. This is a permanent full-time position based in Newcastle. You will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions, including talent management and acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, learning and development and payroll.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Strategic Leadership**: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company’s overall objectives. Provide authoritative guidance and support to senior management on HR-related issues.
- **Talent Acquisition and Management**: Lead the recruitment strategy to attract, retain, and develop top talent. Oversee the development of robust talent management programs, including succession planning and leadership development.
- **Employee Relations**: Cultivate a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Coach leaders to support the resolution of employee relations issues promptly and effectively, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Manage Union relationships. Lead Enterprise Agreement negotiations.
- **Performance Management**: Oversee the performance appraisal process, providing tools and resources to managers to conduct effective evaluations. Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement and productivity.
- **Compensation and Benefits**: Manage the design, implementation, and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent. Oversee the payroll function.
- **Learning and Development**: Develop and implement training and development programs to support employee growth and organizational effectiveness.
- **HR Compliance**: Ensure compliance with all employment laws regarding employment practices. Update and maintain HR policies and procedures.
- **Data-Driven Reporting & Decision Making**: Utilise HR analytics to inform decisions and provide insights on workforce trends, employee engagement, and other key HR metrics.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of contemporary HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, IR and workplace practices, and employment laws.
- Experience working in or providing advice to a manufacturing or mining industry would be advantageous.
- Proven experience in talent management, employee relations, and compensation and benefits is essential.
- Experience in overseeing a payroll function would be desirable.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is highly desirable.
- Highly effective organisational skills with an ability to work collaboratively and independently managing multiple projects to achieve deadlines.
