**The Role**
The Executive Producer'“ The Point will develop and deliver the editorial strategy for NITV’s flagship current affairs program, The Point. This includes team management, supervision of production and overseeing delivery of the program.
Reporting to the Head of Indigenous News and Current Affairs (INACA), this role will see you:
- Define The Point’s overall editorial direction, ensuring output meets SBS Editorial standards, is fair and balanced, builds trust with audiences and is aligned to the SBS and NITV Charters
- Oversee the delivery of The Point, on time, on budget and to an agreed schedule
- Lead a small team, including mentoring and coaching team members
- Authorise expenditure within delegation and ensure that the program operates within the agreed budgets
- Provide strategic direction and editorial and creative leadership across INACA, aligning teams around a single, integrated and long term vision for the team.
**About you**
We are looking for an experienced producer with 5+ years experience working on TV News, current affairs or factual programs, who is passionate about elevating and amplifying the voices of First Nations people and communities.
A big picture thinker, you’ll have a proven leadership, editorial and production skills with a strong track record of creating original and engaging content for live broadcast television. Experience producing panel programs or outside broadcasts is highly regarded.
The role requires a strong background in and knowledge of Indigenous issues, with sound editorial experience, and an understanding of stories which resonate with NITV audiences. Excellent community contacts and long standing relationships within First Nations communities and organisations will be highly valued.
You’ll have a deep understanding of Indigenous Cultural Protocol and the ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
You will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, highly developed planning, organisational and negotiation skills, and be committed to build a collaborative culture within our small team of journalists, producers and technicians.
