**Role**:
This role reports directly to the Assistant Principal - Transitions and Community Executive Teams.
This Leading Teacher role will include the leading and managing of whole school improvement initiatives related to the school and DET priorities. This will include a knowledge of leading improvement strategies relating to curriculum planning, student engagement and whole school planning. This will require the leadership of staff, whilst also working with other leadership teams within the school.
The role will see a development across many learning areas within the school and will contribute greatly to the overall leadership of the school.
**Responsibilities**:
**Connectedness**:
- Support students to act as key facilitators in Community events.
- Organise events to engage families of the Community and foster positive relations with school staff.
- Work with all members of the Community to address attendance issues, in line with the TC Attendance Policy, including any staged interventions.
- Support students and their guardians in the fostering of positive school attendance and participation culture. Put appropriate steps in place where necessary.
- Work with families to support students and families to re-integrate back into the college due to attendance and other concerns.
- Assist with the transition process of Entry students for the next academic year.
- Implement the transition process for new students entering within the academic year.
**Learning**:
- Lead and inspire others, through leadership and own actions, around the creation of learning opportunities for students, both in the classroom and external to the four walls of the TC Classroom.
- Work with classroom teachers to help support and manage classroom learning interventions, behaviours, and expectations.
- Guide Community Leaders and Youth Workers to mentor the student leaders that are part of the Community Executive Team to develop their leadership capacity, through real leadership projects.
**Wellbeing**:
- Work with all staff to ensure that support for the care of students is underpinned by a Restorative Practice approach and Unconditional Positive Regard.
- Facilitate appropriate agencies and provide support for any students considered at risk or in need of additional support.
- Alongside other Community Executive Team members, Youth Workers and Specialist Wellbeing Services, work with the admin support to ensure timely follow up of inquiries and set meeting times as required. The final accountability will be held by the Community Director.
**Other**:
- Inspire and encourage the college community to have high expectations and value individuality.
- Take an active role in the development and upskilling of Community Leaders, Amin support and Youth Workers
- Coordinate the response to incidents requiring escalation in a timely manner, including collecting statements from students, contacting home, and liaising with the CET Teams around a plan moving forward including any appropriate consequences for making it right.
- Ensure that detailed, accurate and timely records of all interactions with students, parents, and staff are kept, in accordance to college policy.
