We are looking for a
**Workplace Health & Safety Advisor** to join our
**Safety &**
**Quality Team** on a
**Permanent Full Time** basis, based at our modern
**Head Office **in
**Clayfield**.

This role is responsible for managing the workplace health and safety portfolio across the Qscan Group, including developing, implementing, and reviewing WH&S policies. This position is also responsible for supporting employee’s suffering from workplace injury or illness, including return to work arrangements.

Furthermore, as the WHS Advisor you will be required to accomplish the organisations WHS strategy plan and deliver required training to workers in safe work practices, recording and investigating injuries and reporting on safety performance.

This position will require you to support your direct manager, Group executives and the safety & quality team with any further standard or delegated tasks as required. This position covers all Qscan Group offices and clinic locations across all state’s nationwide.

**You will**:

- Maintain a thorough understanding of national state by state WH&S laws/regulations and present changes/updates to the law/regulations to management and staff as required.
- Perform WH&S functions under the national Workplace Health and Safety Act & Regulations to assist Qscan Group to fulfill its legal obligations.
- Upkeep and continual development of Qscan Groups Safety Management Systems and expand Qscan's documentation, ie, policies, procedures and manuals
- Ensure appropriate WH&S systems are developed, updated and maintained with a focus on continuous quality improvement.
- Provide regular reports, information, training, instruction, advice and assistance to the management team and staff in relation to WH&S in the workplace.
- Chair the Group WHS committee with safety legends & Radiation Safety Committee.
- Undertake and engage in hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control activities, providing recommendations for controls.
- Conduct/co-ordinate internal groupwide safety audit/inspection programs and resulting actions.
- Coordination of contractor management processes
- Fire safety and emergency management planning
- Chemical management and collation of SDS’s and completion of required hazardous substance risk assessments
- Medication safety surveillance across the Group (i.e., acquiring, storing, administering & disposal)
- Visit clinics regularly and assist staff with completion of audits in line with internal audit schedule.
- Manage all Workcover incidents and rehabilitation and return to work functions for staff, including reporting of notifiable incidents, investigation, corrective action, engaging with injured workers, development of suitable duty plans and liaising with managers, Workcover and DR’s.
- Manage the coordination of all radiation safety nationally and support Radiation Safety Officers. This includes keeping registers up to date and ensuring clinics, equipment and sources remain in date and certified.

**About You**

Alongside your qualifications or equivalent experience in WH&S (minimum Cert IV in Workplace Health and Safety & Return to Work Coordinator), you will have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role (including return to work functions), comprehensive knowledge of the WH&S Act, regulations and codes of practice, and a passion for promoting WH&S principles within an organisation.

You will also have:

- Knowledge of hazard management principles.
- Experience in developing relevant policies, procedures, and documents, e.g., SWMS, risk assessments..
- Ability to identify safety issues and prepare a comprehensive plan to achieve safety goals.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of healthcare staff to implement health and safety performance improvement strategies.
- Ability to investigate accidents and incidents and make recommendations for preventative action.
- Experience in preparing and presenting training and induction sessions.
- Excellent listening, analytical and investigation skills.
- Calmness, assertiveness, and excellent judgement capabilities.
- Unrestricted Driver’s licence.
