We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Technician to join the School of Health Sciences and contribute to the goals of the LivingLab by supporting the Director, MedTechVic, team members and facility users in all aspects of the LivingLab's operations and support the Technical Team in operational activities.
You will play a key role in the acquisition, installation and maintenance of equipment and in coordinating scheduling of facility use, equipment use and user access. You will provide support for a range of research and co-design activities in medical and assistive technologies and ensure that all occupational health and safety, security and ethical standards and requirements are met, and relevant documentation maintained.
We are seeking an individual with well-developed organisational, time management and problem-solving skills, who is extremely flexible, can use initiative and be responsive to the needs of those that the position directly supports, including people with disabilities and medical technology needs.
This position will be required to work collaboratively with a range of staff and students across the organisation and to successfully operate in a dynamic environment while maintaining a strong focus on great customer service.
**About You**
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Experience in the procurement, operation and maintenance of a wide range of Health, Science and Engineering equipment.
- Demonstrated experience conducting safety risk assessments, preparing safety documentation (such as safe operating procedures) and demonstrating the safe use of laboratory and clinical equipment.
- Well-developed word processing, spreadsheet and database skills with familiarity with the use of propriety software for laboratory or clinical equipment and systems.
- Experience supporting Health Sciences or Product Design teaching and research activities in a higher education environment would be highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the use of digital programs for Health Sciences including, but not limited to, simulation software, teleconferencing software, recording software, and electronic medical records databases is preferred.
**Qualifications**
- A degree in a health-related discipline, or significant equivalent industry experience.
