**The Student Wellbeing Department provides comprehensive counselling and welfare services to support the holistic health and welfare of students. This encompasses providing short term counselling sessions, crisis intervention and mental health support services across all Holmesglen campuses. The department coordinates welfare programs aimed at addressing students’ diverse needs, including financial assistance, housing support and food security initiatives; and access to bulk billed GP services in the Holmesglen Medical Centre.
**As a Student Counsellor, you will**:
- Deliver individual counselling and welfare support across a range of student wellbeing needs.
- Contribute to departmental planning, policies and initiatives that promote mental health.
- Design and facilitate group workshops on stress, study skills, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
- Develop strong referral pathways and maintain professional records and resource libraries.
- Collaborate across departments to advocate for students and support inclusive learning environments.
**To be successful, you’ll have**:
- Demonstrated ethical professional practices, confidentiality, and knowledge of case management and counselling standards in student support services.
- Possess expertise in personal, career, and educational counselling techniques, with a strong understanding of community welfare and mental health services and referral processes.
- Experience working autonomously and collaboratively, setting priorities in dynamic environments, and providing counselling in educational or similar settings.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to connect with diverse student cohorts and stakeholders professionally.
- Post-graduate qualifications in psychology, counselling, with professional experience and eligibility for registration with a relevant organisation.
- ** WWCC and Police Check**:Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
