Melbourne City Centre, Australia Court Services Victoria Full time

About us
The County Court Common Law Division hears and determines matters relating to personal injury, workplace, transport accident and medical negligence claims, and claims by a beneficiary under a will as well as other common law disputes, both in Melbourne and in regional Victoria. The Division also manages and determines quasi criminal matters in the Appeals and Post Sentence Applications (APSA) List.
The Division is governed by the Head of the Common Law Division, the Judges in charge of lists, and the Judicial Registrars.
The administrative team that supports the Division is comprised of Registrars, Division Lawyers and self-represented litigant case managers, working with and supporting judicial officers in the state-wide management of cases. Led by a director, and working in collaboration with judicial support staff, they are responsible for all administrative activities that sustain the operations of the Division, delivering critical services to Court users and the judiciary.
About the role
The Self-Represented Litigant Case Manager provides practical and procedural information and support (not legal advice) to self-represented litigants in navigating court procedures. You will assist self-represented litigants in understanding and complying with court rules and assist in referring individuals to external services and agencies for legal assistance.
As a part of a close knit, supportive team, you will work closely with judges, judicial registrars, division lawyers and the Common Law Registry team to support and actively case manage proceedings involving self-represented litigants.
You will lead initiatives to improve processes, information, and educational resources for self-represented litigants, including the development of inclusive and accessible information and the enhancement of online services. You will also work with external stakeholders to develop new programs to support self-represented litigants and expand access to justice.
Together with registry managers and division lawyers you will support, develop and build the capability of the Registry team to respond effectively to the needs of self-represented litigants.
About you
You enjoy working as a part of a team in a busy, dynamic environment. You will have well developed abilities to prioritise your work, working under pressure to balance the day-to-day work as well as longer term project work and strategic thinking.
