**OAKLANDS HUNT CLUB**
Oakland Hunt Club is one of the oldest fox hunting packs in Australia, being formed in 1888. Our hunt country is based in the picturesque rolling granite hills about 1.5 hours north of Melbourne, while the kennels are currently based near Tullamarine Airport.
The position of Whipper-in is responsible to assist the huntsman in the feeding, training, exercising, grooming, transporting, caring for and hunting the pack of 50-60 foxhounds. You will also be required to feed, train, exercise, groom, compete and hunt the new and existing hunt horses. Cleaning and mucking out of hound kennels, horse yards and stables and maintenance of tack and hunt panels and equipment are part of the position.
Your previous 3+ years’ experience as a whipper-in are essential, as is experience in training and bringing on young foxhounds and green hunt horses. Your confidence in riding, jumping and whipping in, combined with a ‘can do’, hands-on attitude and a willingness to work as part of a small team, will see you rewarded in hunting some of the best country in the land. Your passion and enthusiasm for fox hunting will be matched by your willingness to add to your existing hunting knowledge.
A driver’s licence is essential, a truck licence is desirable. You must be willing to work Saturdays and travel regularly as part of your employment. Accommodation can be provided as part of your package if required.
