**Selection Criteria**:
**KSC1**: Demonstrated ability to successfully lead the implementation and evaluation of learning and teaching programs, inclusive of evidence based pedagogical approaches, curriculum implementation, and effective assessment and reporting, in accordance with the Victorian Curriculum.
**KSC2**: Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching skills and capacity to model high impact classroom teaching strategies and lead colleagues to improve their teaching and learning to enable all students to achieve their full potential.
**KSC3**: Demonstrated outstanding ability to monitor and assess student-learning and behaviour data at the individual, cohort and whole school level and to use this data to inform teaching for improved student learning and behaviour.
**KSC4**: Demonstrated outstanding written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with parents, other employees and the broader school community focused on student learning, wellbeing and engagement.
**KSC 6**: Demonstrated capacity to contribute to whole school improvement through coaching and mentoring of teachers to enhance instructional practice in English, Mathematics and transdisciplinary learning.
**Role**:
The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.
In recognition of the importance of exemplary practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:
- Have key responsibility for the implementation of the Annual Improvement Plan
- Be an active contributor to the Leadership Team to ensure that there is clarity and consistency in teaching and learning throughout the school.
- Modelling exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to teams or individuals to support the academic growth of students.
- Contributing to the development of processes and protocols for peer observation, teacher feedback and peer collaboration
- Playing a key role in the provision of professional learning in classrooms, with teams and all of staff.
- Lead the development and implementation of shared instructional model.
- Leading the development and implementation of curriculum planning and the VTLM 2.0 with a focus on English, Mathematics and PYP.
- Provide leadership support to Learning Leaders as facilitators of Professional Learning Communities.
- Lead the analysis of whole-school and cohort assessment data that supports staff to analyse data at the student, class, year level and whole school
- Modelling exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches
- Developing and promoting school-wide professional learning structures, processes and protocols through Professional Learning Communities
- Contributing to the overall leadership and management of the school
- Manage assigned budget and resources
- Perform other duties as directed by the Principal.
**Responsibilities**:
The Learning Specialist will model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons, and mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
The Learning Specialist will play a key role in the development of outstanding teacher practice at Mount View Primary School to impact upon student outcomes. Working closely with the Leadership Team, Learning Leaders and staff the Learning Specialist will develop and enhance teacher practice to improve student outcomes. The Learning Specialist will ensure that all classroom teachers embed the instructional model, the PYP framework and VTLM 2.0 to provide a rich learning environment for all students. The Learning Specialist will ensure that peer observations are used to engage in professional learning, are regularly utilised to improve teacher practice, and that appropriate data informs and drives improvement. When mentoring/coaching others the Learning Specialist will utilise the GROW coaching model.
Learning Specialists will be supported with structured professional learning to develop their leadership and a time allowance to support them in fulfilling their responsibilities. Learning Specialists should demonstrate the AITSL standards of a Lead Teacher when undertaking their role and responsibilities. The Learning Specialist will engage in his/her own professional development as a leader and within the allocated portfolio. This will involve being up to date with current research and the Department of Education priorities, policies and guidelines.
