**Position Information**:
Russell Vale Public School is a personal, family-oriented, community-focussed primary school located within picturesque parklands in the northern suburbs of Wollongong. Established in 1954, it has a proud tradition of academic, cultural, creative and sporting programs and achievements. Enrolments are currently at 280 students structured into 11 classes with 18 EAL/D and 10 Aboriginal students. The teaching staff are experienced and work collaboratively to set high expectations for all students. A focus on explicit and effective teaching practices, coupled with a differentiated curriculum that is research and evidence-based drives student improvement. Embedded reflection on practice and engagement in ongoing high impact professional learning is integral to our pursuit of quality teaching practices.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with expert curriculum knowledge, deep understanding of formative assessment strategies and current research based pedagogy to lead the implementation of high quality, differentiated literacy and numeracy programs.
Proven skills in using data effectively to improve teacher capacity, student outcomes and the ability to enhance parent understanding of school curriculum and their children’s progress in learning.
Demonstrated commitment to foster a culture of high expectations, ability to identify areas of need, facilitate change and lead future focused professional development, building the capacity of individuals and teams and improving educational outcomes for students.
A visible, innovative and approachable leader with the ability to work as a dynamic member of the leadership team to build on the existing positive school culture and facilitate, implement and evaluate school initiatives within the strategic improvement plan.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
