The Leading Biosecurity Officer - Agricultural Chemicals will deliver Chemical Operations projects and activities throughout the South East region, including monitoring and implementing compliance activities to ensure adherence to the relevant chemical control of use legislation.

Reporting to the Biosecurity Manager - South East, you will lead the regulation of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, fertiliser and stockfeed under the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Act 1992, including the conduct of complex and lengthy investigations and chemical audit projects. You will also provide extension and advisory services to AgVet chemical users. You will establish strong working relationships with internal staff and various external stakeholders, including private landowners, community, agricultural and horticultural industry groups as well as local and state government agencies managing AgVet chemical use issues in peri-urban areas.

As this is a regulatory position, you may be required to conduct investigations and appear in court. This position has responsibilities under the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemical (Control of Use) 1992 Act (the Act), Agricultural and Veterinary Chemical (Control of Use) Regulations 2017 and the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981.

**Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications**
- Current Drivers Licence for a motor vehicle
- Manual handling
- Hold a current Applied First Aid Certificate (Level 2 to be completed during probation period)
- Vaccination against Q fever is recommended.

**This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Attwood, Cranbourne or Ellinbank with hybrid work arrangements available.**

- Your demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of regulation within Victorian agriculture and horticulture industries including biosecurity issues such as chemical misuse affecting these industries; and
- Your demonstrated experience in managing complex projects.
