Plant Manager Villawood

As a plant manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the production requirements of the site are met, with respect to EH&S, product quality, and customer service and that these are achieved at or below budgeted cost. Lead major change programs in Operations to deliver continuous improvements in levels of EH&S, business efficiencies and customer service, and driving the strategic development and direction of the Operations at Ingleburn and Dandenong as well as contribute to the wider PPG ANZ Operations and Supply Chain strategy

**Key Responsibilities**
- Run a safe and compliant plant that complies with local legislation and PPG EHSMS requirements.
- Manage plant capacity, costs and service for the best benefit of the PPG Architectural business.
- To sponsor and drive implementation of continuous improvement projects, especially capitalizing on Quality Process techniques. Using procedure and system changes to best effect for the architectural business.
- To sustain and further develop a strong performance culture throughout the organisation with all levels of employees through communication processes, use of Performance and Learning tools and effective cross functional team working.
- To build cross functional relationships and team working to enhance performance especially alongside the supply, planning, sales, marketing and technical areas.
- To use a Sales and Operations Planning process to ensure total business decisions with effective and efficient management of product supply to the market.
- Ensure active leadership in PPG policy and practice, particularly in the area of EHS, business conduct, ethics and quality.
- Actively participate and contribute to both the Architectural Leadership Team and the ANZ Operations Leadership Team.

**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**EH&S**
- Ensure Plant production is conducted within Company and legislative EH&S regulations
- Implement and audit procedures and take corrective actions as necessary to minimize work related injuries, illnesses, exposures, losses of containment and unusual incidents
- Maintain plant cleanliness in line with safety and PPG best practice requirements

**Production**
- Lead and manage manufacturing initiatives in accordance with company objectives to:

- Drive and monitor production to achieve production targets
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational performance
- Achieve scorecard requirements across all aspects
- Ensure the production outputs meet or exceed targets on daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis
- Work effectively with the Supply Chain function to deliver efficient and effective production schedules and management of shut downs, etc.

**Financials**
- Ensure plant is managed in a cost effective and efficient manner while working to a budget
- Continually improve productivity and operational efficiency by minimizing waste, overtime and aids to manufacture to reduce unit costs on site
- Effectively manage labour, overtime and the use of contractors within budget
- Manage metrics
- Ensure compliance against PPG financial procedures

**Leadership**
- Sustain and manage a strong performance culture in manufacturing with all levels of employees through communication processes, skill gap analysis and effective training solutions
- Effectively communicate business goals, functional alignment and performance against these measures
- Identify and implement improvement projects within the manufacturing environment
- Drive best practice safety
- Encourage behaviors that promote team effectiveness
- Drive performance through highly visible front line presence

**People, Teamwork and Relationships**
- Manage the day to day relationships with management, employees and others
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Engineering, EH&S, Sales, Supply Chain and Technical departments
- Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders to deliver consistent quantity, quality and reliability of output
- Responsible for recruitment, selection, coaching & development and overall performance of team
- Supports Team members development through feedback, on-the-job training and succession planning
- Leads regular and effective discussions with teams through regular communication

**Qualifications**
- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline
- At least 10 years in industrial/production based role in senior and managerial positions
- Demonstrated track record of performance in a similar role in a challenging environment
- Demonstrated change management experience both in manufacturing projects and cultural change
