The Nurse Practitioner (TNP/NP) provides readily available access to high level evidence-based nursing care and support within the specialty area of Aged Care.
The TNP/NP role will improve access of care and address gaps in existing health care services through the provision of a flexible and innovative model of care. The Nurse Practitioner's extended practice role includes comprehensive assessment, interpretation of diagnostics, implementation of treatment modalities and relevant referral skills applied toa broad range of challenging, complex and changing situations.
The TNP/NP will provide clinical and professional leadership as an expert in the clinical field and will undertake comprehensive health assessments and collaborate and consult with other members of the health care team to plan, implement, and evaluate care. This integrated approach will support best practice and maximise patient care outcomes.
A Transitional Nurse Practitioner must be a Registered Nurse (AHPRA) working towards Nurse Practitioner endorsement with at least 5 years post graduate experience and at least 3 years in the relevant field. The TNP is appointed for a provisional period of up to three (3) years until the applicant meets the NMBA requirements for Nurse Practitioner endorsement.

- Registered Nurse with AHPRA who is endorsed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia OR Registered Nurse with AHPRA working towards Nurse Practitioner endorsement with 5 years post graduate experience and at least 3 years in the relevant field
