Westgate Community Initiatives Group Ltd (WCIG) is a well-known, community based not for profit organisation that is committed to creating practical responses to unemployment and disadvantage across Melbourne and Geelong. We currently have a new opportunity for a Youth Worker to support our Youth Services team in delivering the Better Futures program.

You will be based predominantly working from home if this suits you; however, travel in the community to meet young people, care teams and relevant community members will be required and some travel to WCIG offices.

**The role**:
This Case Manager/Youth Worker role is part of the Better Futures program. You must have a passion for working with vulnerable young people, as you will be supporting them transition from out-of-home care to independent living. This means you will be planning and providing tailored individualised supports around health and wellbeing, housing, education, employment and community connections.

You will be responsible for providing direct case management, information and advice, and access to brokerage assistance to eligible young people. The supports you provide will vary depending on the young person you are working with, and may include mentoring, counselling, motivation, advocacy, career guidance and skills development.

**About you**:

- Tertiary qualification and/or experience in Youth Work, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Community Services is essential
- Prior experience working with young people with complex needs is essential
- A current Australian driver's licence is required
- Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in order to build effective partnerships and working relationships
- Knowledge and understanding of issues that affect young people’s engagement
- Passion for improving the lives of young people
- Experience in working with young people who have experienced out-of-home care, CALD and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people would be a bonus
- Current Working with Children’s Check card or ability to obtain one prior to commence is essential
