This is an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander identified position. To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the role be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. THE ROLE
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive professional to coordinate, plan and deliver administrative and culturally appropriate operational, educational and research support services within the Department of Indigenous Studies.
Reporting to the Head of Department, Indigenous Studies, the Department Coordinator is responsible for providing support for the operational implementation of programs, services, and administration.

Key Accountabilities- Build and/or contribute to the development of the annual Department budget at the direction of the Head of Department and oversee the day-to-day financial operations and budget management of the Department in consultation with the Faculty’s Head of Operations.- Working with the Head of Department provide input to the strategic development of the Department and the Centre for Global Indigenous Futures as required. This will include coordinating events with industry partners to support further research grants.- In coordination with the Department’s academic staff, manage the organisational, operational, educational and research administrative support for staff, students and stakeholders as required.- Be accountable to the Faculty’s Head of Operations in delivering the operational activities of the Department, including finance, HR, IT, WHS, travel, online communications and events processes.- Be accountable to the Faculty’s Educational Services Delivery Manager to address the timetabling, results, course support and escalated student support matters relevant to the Department.-
- Oversee the culturally appropriate onboarding of new staff, Graduate Research Students, honorary appointees, visitors, including Elders, and volunteers to the department in accordance with WHS and other University requirements.- Supervise and support casual professional staff within the Department at culturally and inclusive levels.- Build and maintain productive collaborative relationships with key stakeholders internally, including Office of the PVC (Indigenous Strategy), Wallumattagal Aboriginal Advisory Committee, Walanga Muru and as identified across the Faculty and the University.- Establish and maintain productive collaborative relationships with key stakeholders externally including Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, communities, Elders, and organisations, and industry partnerships.- Coordinate collaborations between Department and Indigenous Elders and communities for research, industry engagement, and cultural events.- Comply with relevant professional standards, cultural protocols, codes of ethics, and EEO and WHS regulations.- Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.
