Virgin Australia Regional Airline (VARA) operates out of Perth Airport and has a fleet of F100 aircraft and A320 aircraft that predominantly conduct charter operations to regional Western Australia. **What you’ll be doing**:
The objective of the People Safety Specialist is to oversee WHS performance and compliance, partner with, and build relationships with, divisional Leaders, to influence change and manage risk in relation to people safety. The role will undertake audits, investigations and inspections of facilities and will be responsible for ensuring the required outcomes are achieved and maintained under the WHS Management System to the business.

**Further responsibilities**:

- Develop management systems to identify potential and actual WHSE hazards and risks, report these to the business, and partner with line managers to manage these risks and hazards
- Working with the department managers and leaders, develop and deliver training and promotional material related to people safety
- Support the review of WHSE reports ensuring that the risks are reduced to as low as reasonably practicable
- Build relationships with the health & Safety Representatives for the business
- Run the WHS committee and Environment committee for VARA
- Build safety data packs for safety governance meetings
- Build relationships with front line team members including Aircraft Engineers to instil safety behaviours
- Hold oversight of WHS regulations and communicate this to the business

**Who we’re looking for**:

- Qualification in Workplace Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV)
- Ability to engage, lead and influence from front line to management
- A safety enthusiast who is solution focussed and strives for continuous improvement
- Audit / investigation or environment qualification is desirable
- knowledge of WHS and Environmental regulations, codes of practice and Australian Standards
- Between 2- 5 years in a WHS or supervisory position
- Knowledge of Emergency Management
- Strong ability to build rapport with stakeholders and influence outcomes
