**Horse Trainer**

Yulong is seeking a highly motivated and adaptive individual to join our growing team as a full-time Horse Trainer/Stallions Manager.

Yulong is comprised of three farms all of which are an easy drive to Melbourne. The breeding side of the operation, Yulong Stud and Yulong Farm, are located in the beautiful wine region of Nagambie. Whilst the spelling farm, Yulong Park, located in Bayles, is a short drive to the Mornington Peninsula.

Yulong is a rapidly expanding operation which currently has 400 broodmares, 230 foals, five stallions and over 100 horses in training.

**Horse Trainer/Stallion Manager **- Duties will include:

- Overseeing daily care and supervision of stallions and staff
- Handling and training stallions in the breeding shed
- Handling and training stallions for parades and other stud promotion
- Assisting Veterinarians in attending to medical and health needs of stallions as required
- Managing the care and legal requirements in the breeding shed

**Essential Criteria**
- A minimum of three years’ experience working with and educating thoroughbred horses at the required senior skill level
- Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbreds, including stallions, sales and breeding
- Proven ability to train and educate young horses
- Oral and written communication skills of a level to manage and provide information and advice to others and prepare reports
- Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
- Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
- For the management positions the suitable applicant will require extensive evidence of managing a team and breeding operation

A salary of between $80,000 and $100,000 is available, based on experience.
