**Position Details**: Full Time, 7:00am - 3:30pm (with a monthly RDO), 5 weeks annual leave

**Donvale Christian College**:
Donvale Christian College is located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne having opened in 1975. The current enrolment is over 1500 students from Prep to Year 12 and the total number of employees is approximately 300.

Donvale Christian College is governed, as provided for in its Constitution, by the College Board. The Board are elected by the members of the College. The full range of Christian denominations is represented in the parent body of the College. There is no position on the Board elected or appointed by any single church community. The Board is totally elected by the membership of Donvale Christian College Ltd. The Principal is appointed by the Board and together they appoint staff.

Staff members are expected to actively support the Christian aims of the College and to be members of a Bible based worship community.

**Role Description**

The Grounds and Maintenance Team exists to maintain the College buildings and property. The Maintenance Assistant supports the College by using their trade or certificate to undertake construction, maintenance and repair tasks.

The core business of Donvale Christian College is to be a biblically directed learning community. Everyone and everything in this community serves this purpose. Each person in the College community has been gifted by God to make his or her contribution to the learning and teaching for which God has brought the College into being.

**College requirements**

All staff are required to:

- Be Christian role models and examples to all people associated with the College.
- Participate in leading College devotions that involve staff and students and attendance at the staff retreat.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Undertake maintenance and constructions projects as directed by the Property Manager.
- Routine repairs to school infrastructure.
- Use the College’s ticketing system to support workflow within the Grounds and Maintenance Team and communication with staff.
- Assist in the set up and pack up of College events.
- Attend and assist in the facilitation of working bees, if required.
- Other duties as directed.

**Position Requirements - Education and Experience**:

- Trade qualification in either carpentry or cabinet making and trade experience in the following areas:

- welding
- use of static machinery
- maintenance of equipment
- building and adjustment of cabinetry
- installation of door hardware and locking mechanisms
- formwork and concrete work
- Experience with commercial fit out preferred.
- Be solutions driven.
- Ability to identify work priorities and coordinate works to make the most efficient use of time.
- Ability to clearly communicate timeframes and expected outcomes with College staff.
- Experience in set making and design would be advantageous.
- Have a valid Victorian Driver’s License.
- Have a valid Victorian Working with Children’s Check - employee.
