**Position Information**:
Jamisontown Public School has an enrolment of 356 students, including 40 Aboriginal students. A Support Unit was established in 2019 comprising of three Multi-Categorical classes catering for students from a diverse range backgrounds and abilities. The school is well supported by its parent community and is known for its caring and supportive environment. Student wellbeing is supported through the implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning, social skills programs and other wellbeing initiatives. The school is also focused on building leadership capacity and refining the use of evaluative practices that support continual school improvement.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with additional learning needs, such as intellectual disabilities, autism, and other complex learning needs.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, support agencies and the wider community.
Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing with the ability to develop and effectively implement individual learning plans, behaviour support plans and risk management plans with all stakeholders to support the behavioural, social, sensory and learning needs of students.
Demonstrated capacity to lead a support unit and effectively manage dual roles of Assistant Principal and exemplary classroom teacher with a deep knowledge of curriculum, differentiation and development of high quality individual educational learning programs.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
