**The Opportunity**:
We have a fantastic opportunity for motivated self-starters to join our roading team in the Tumut Region. This role contributes to the wider Tumut team through construction and ongoing maintenance of our strategic road network, in particular haulage routes, to ensure timber products are moved safely and timely from the forest and to customers delivery points. The role also plays a vital role in fire fighting and fire preparedness by maintaining our fire trail network.

About the Role
The Tumut Management Area of FCNSW manages 5,791kms of roads and trails, about 90km of which are sealed. These roads form the backbone of the transport network that supports a large forest industry.
Step into a fantastic full-time, permanent role where your expertise in operating trucks and heavy plant can make a real impact. As a Heavy Plant Operator, you'll engage in hands-on manual labor, working with shared heavy plant under general direction on a wide range of forest road operations. These include road maintenance and construction, fire trail maintenance, asset management. This role offers opportunities for skill development and training and provides job security working in an essential industry.
**We would love you to have**:
- Demonstrated experience in operating heavy plant machinery in a safe manner ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards (demonstrable Dozer and/or Grader experience is desirable).
- Be willing to upskill on other heavy plant
- Hold a current Heavy Rigid Drivers Licence (Heavy Combination is desirable)
- Perform daily heavy plant prestart inspections and report maintenance requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in road construction, maintenance techniques, installation of road drainage structures and quality control.
- Good verbal communication and problem-solving skills with an ability to work unsupervised for limited periods.
- Ability to undertake manual labour, fire standby, fire suppression, hazard reduction activities and maintain sufficient fitness for the job.
- The ability to read maps and navigate, interpret instructions and operational plans and record basic field data
- Willingness to work extended hours.
- Ability or willingness to use iPad and/or computers for administrative tasks.
