Building Surveyor

Salary: $80,125 - $110,017 p.a. plus 11.5% Super

**About the role**2x permanent, full time** Building Surveyor positions are available working **35 hours** per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm) located at the **Nowra Administration Building**. As part of our Certification Team, this role involves evaluating and managing development assessments, as well as offering professional advice and guidance to the public on development-related issues.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

**Duties**
Reporting directly to the Team Supervisor - Certification, the focus of this position is to:

- Assist in the administration of applicable Acts so as to achieve the best built environment, health, welfare and well-being of the whole community and to ensure achievement of the objectives of Council’s Management Plan and Council’s levels of customer service
- Undertake assessment of Construction Certificates, Complying Development Certificates, Building Information Certificates, Bushfire Attack Level Certificates, and Development Assessment as required and prepare detailed compliance reports.
- Undertake critical stage inspections in accordance with the level of accreditation.
- Provide for the protection, promotion, and improvement of the natural and built environment, and public amenity and safety in order to achieve the objectives of Council’s Community Strategic Plan.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to the public on development related matters.
- To manage, assess and process development assessments which range in complexity and value.

**Skills & Experience**
To be successful in the position, you will possess:
Grade 9- Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor - Building Inspector.
- Undertaking or completed training to achieve a registered Class of building surveyor - Building Inspector with NSW Fair Trading

Grade 10- Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor - restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings).
- Registered as a certifier to attain a registered Class of building surveyor - restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings) with NSW Fair Trading.

Grade 11- Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor - restricted (all classes of buildings) or Class of building surveyor - unrestricted.
- Registered as a certifier at Class of building surveyor - restricted (all classes of buildings) or Class of building surveyor - unrestricted with NSW Fair Trading.

This position requires:

- Hold or be eligible to acquire a NSW WorkCover Construction Induction card.
- Class C Driver’s Licence.

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 9, 10,11.
