Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
**About the role**
The Court Officer is allocated to a specific Judicial Officer for the period of the two-year contract providing an opportunity to develop a broad range of practical skills and seeing firsthand how legislation is applied in a justice setting. You will be provided with training to manage in court proceedings for the allocated Judicial Officer within a physical court and online. This will include performing a range of administrative tasks, including records management, preparation of court documents, preparing, actioning and reviewing a wide range of correspondence, data entry and filing in accordance with legislative requirements, procedural manuals and practice directions. You will also provide support through research and analysis of case law and precedents to inform Judicial decision making.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a recent law graduate, looking to make a start on their legal career in a hands-on role working from the inside and developing their knowledge and skills in preparation for an ongoing legal career. You will gain experience within the courts working directly with a Judicial Officer from managing proceedings in court and online to assisting with research and records management. You will build skills and experience of the practical aspects of the law from within the court and work closely with a wide range of legal professionals and those working within the justice system.

**About you**
Ideally, you will be a recent law graduate that has excellent time management skills. Your other strengths will include:
