An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.

Placements are available in January 2026 and will be between 24 - 36 months in duration.

**Responsibilities**

In the role of a Radioactive Waste Technician, your responsibilities are:

- Handling of low-level radioactive waste, including removing and transferring accumulated radioactive waste from the submarine to a controlled facility for processing.
- Categorising radioactive waste within the storage facility and managing the long-term storage of this waste.
- Operating water treatment plant within the radiological control facility.
- Conducting preventative maintenance on water treatment plant equipment.
- Complying with strict radiological procedures for the safe handling of radioactive material.

**Eligibility Criteria**

The successful applicant must possess:

- Australian Citizenship
- Experience in radiological or hazardous environments (desirable)
- Experience in operating fixed or mobile plant
- Demonstrated experience in an environment with strict process and procedures
- Ability to undertake and retain technical training

**Additional Details**

During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.

At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
