The role
As a Specimen Reception Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient services within the TPCH Laboratory. Your primary responsibilities include supervising, coordinating, and guiding clinical assistant staff, delivering training and competency assessments, and supporting the implementation of service improvement initiatives. Leveraging your high-level knowledge and leadership skills, you will act as a resource person for internal and external clients, oversee quality control and inventory management, and contribute to the development and achievement of team and organisational goals. You will ensure compliance with Queensland Health's core values and uphold standards outlined by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) and International Standardisation Organisation (ISO).
In this role, you will actively participate in team collaboration, maintain professional standards, and work closely with the Manager, Specimen Reception, to optimise workflows, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and support professional development. Your ability to demonstrate advanced skills in pre-analytical specimen processing, laboratory operations, and digital systems such as AUSLAB will be critical to your success. By embodying a commitment to ethical practice, patient confidentiality, and continuous improvement, you will contribute to the advancement of a high-performing and patient-focused laboratory service.
