**About the Orthopaedic Unit**

The Orthopaedic Unit, as part of the Division of Surgery, Anaesthesia & Procedural Medicine, is responsible for the provision of services within the specialty to patients across all campuses of Austin Health. The Director of Orthopaedic Surgery is Mr Andrew Hardidge.

**About the role**

As an unaccredited orthopaedic registrar at Austin Health, you will be part of a very dynamic and collaborative multidisciplinary team. You will be involved in the entire patient journey from assessment to discharge. You will work predominantly across two campuses in close proximity, namely Austin Hospital and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.

You will be involved in managing patients across the full gamut of orthopaedic surgery at Austin, including foot and ankle. knee, hip, spine, shoulder, elbow and hand surgery, with fields including sports, degenerative, trauma, tumour and other work. You will assess patients in the emergency department, on the wards and in clinic. You will be involved in their surgery, post-operative hospital stay management and post-operative clinic follow-up.

**About you**

As the Unaccredited Orthopaedic Registrar, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

To be successful in this role, you must:

- Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care
- Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration
- Demonstrate an ability to communicate at all levels
- Have a current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Have completed Basic Surgical Trainee years 1 & 2 (not essential).
- Have significant Orthopaedic resident or registrar experience, preferably experience in the Victorian public health system
