The Sterilisation Technician plays an important role in supporting the operation of Family Planning Australia Day Surgery Unit and clinics. They are responsible for managing the processing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices for the Day Surgery Unit and the Newington clinic. The Sterilisation Technician provides leadership, supervision and support to Assistants in Nursing when working within the sterilisation service.
The position supports the Nurse Manager Day Surgery Unit by ensuring access to appropriate sterile equipment at all times to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the Day Surgery Unit.

**Description**:
The Sterilisation Technician plays an important role in supporting the operation of Family Planning Australia Day Surgery Unit and clinics. They are responsible for managing the processing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices for the Day Surgery Unit and the Newington clinic. The Sterilisation Technician provides leadership, supervision and support to Assistants in Nursing when working within the sterilisation service.
- Casual position

**Skills and Experiences**:
Essential
- Certificate 2 in Sterilisation Services
- At least 2 years' experience in a hospital Central Sterlisation Services Department
- High level knowledge and understanding of the principles of infection control and ability to implement, monitor and maintain infection control standards
- Sound knowledge and understanding of governing standards and guidelines relevant to processing of reusable medical devices and ability to implement, monitor and comply with auditing requirements
- Leadership experience including proven strong interpersonal, negotiation, communication skills effective written and oral communication and problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills when addressing staff at all levels including administration officers, nurses, medical officers and anaesthetists
- Must have Australian working rights

Desirable
- Computer skills to manager MS Excel
- Team Leader Experience

- A Criminal Record Check and Working With Children Check are required prior to commencement in this role
