This position reports to the Head Coach - Swimming.

**Role Purpose and Overview**
- The purpose of the Assistant Coach - Swimming, is to assist the Head Swim Coach in the development and sustainability of a high quality Aquatics program, including the planning and coaching of a variety of squads. The assistant coach will lead the junior competitive program and ensure a sustainable future for the Wenona Swimming program by supporting the transition of swimmers from LTS along the pathway to competitive squads.
- The role requires the provision of organisational support to the Wenona Learn to Swim, Swim Squad programs and additional activities held in the aquatic facilities as part of the collaborative coaching team.
- Assist in the IPSHA and IGSA planning and management of all Wenona School conducted swimming events and carnivals. Attend all school related swimming carnivals, championships and training sessions.
- Coach all Swim Squad levels from Mini squad to Senior competitive as required and attend all associated Wenona Swim Club (WSC) events as agreed with the Head Coach.
- The role is also responsible for facilitating the delivery of the swimming curriculum in conjunction with the PDHPE department.
- There is an expectation that excellent, accurate, and timely correspondence and customer service will be provided to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- The position contributes to the administrative delivery of the Swimming Program and the maintenance of a positive internal culture where service, integrity, and humour are valued.
- As with all support staff positions, this role is central to the operation of the School and supports student learning. All of our support and operations staff have a firm commitment to their own professional learning. They support the values of the School and work together with the academic staff to ensure the highest educational standards are met.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Overall**
- Planning and preparing of short and long term daily training plans and coaching of swimming programs in conjunction with the Head Coach.
- Attendance at all Wenona Swim Club carnivals, School swimming events, representative carnivals and associated events.
- Delivery of dryland training programs, fitness activities and education of swimmers about training and race preparation, recovery and performance.
- Contribute to the education and advancement of the Development and Junior coaches.
- Support the coordination of the Wenona Swimming Program and competitive opportunities; including promotion and liaison on operational matters related to the WSC.
- Maintain the aquatic environment to ensure the facilities are hygienic and safety standards are maintained. Carry out any basic procedural maintenance such as water testing and report any faults to the maintenance team.
- Monitor attendance of all levels of squads, whilst providing feedback to students and parents on their children's progress and development.
- Undertake lifeguard and pool attendant duties for both squad programs and PDHPE lessons as required.
- Liaise with the Head Coach - Swimming regarding any dissemination of important information, responding to enquiries and professionally managing any student or parent concerns.
