**AFTERNOON SHIFT CLEANER - BRISBANE BASED**

**The Role**

We currently have an opportunity for a self-motivated, reliable Afternoon Shift Cleaner.

The purpose of the Cleaner position is to provide a range of cleaning services to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across the campus. The Cleaner is further responsible for maintaining a professionally presented and safe environment for our staff and customers. They are required to maintain both the internal and external environment of the TAFE Queensland Southbank campus. This includes but is not limited to attending to job requests raised by the client, in accordance with standard operating procedures, undertaking daily tasks as assigned by the Manager / Supervisor / Coordinator, cleaning duties (e.g. emptying rubbish bins, mopping, wiping, cleaning toilets, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning kitchenettes and showers as well as plunging toilets) and there is also a requirement for cleaning of specialised areas which includes but is not limited to laboratories, commercial kitchens, and dentistry. Additional training is provided to all cleaners required to work in these specialised areas. All work must be performed and completed in accordance with legislation and best industry practice and provide the best possible outcomes for both Spotless and the client.

**The Afternoon Shift Cleaner requires experience / knowledge in**:

- Previous experience in a commercial cleaning environment
- Certificate III in Asset Maintenance - Cleaning Services (desirable)
- Training in the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment (desirable)

**Skills and Experience**
- Current Open Driver’s Licence
- Positive Notice Blue Card for Child Related Employment (or willingness to obtain)
- Current knowledge of work health and safety and risk management principles and practices
- Knowledge of current industry standards relevant to trades services operations
- Highly developed customer service skills - prioritises the needs of customers and acts with customers in mind.
- Demonstrated commitment to principles of service quality improvement, continuous improvement and organisational development
- Ability to comprehend written and verbal communication, follow policies, procedures and instructions
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually by developing good working relationships with team members and enjoys the company of others
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure
- Knowledge and use of personal protective equipment required safety.
- Previous experience to work as part of a team by developing good working relationships with team members and enjoys the company of others.
- Good written and oral communication skills

This position requires working unsupervised, and as part of a team, to deliver a high-quality service. It involves managing conflicting demands and deadlines through prioritisation, with high attention to detail whilst maintaining a strong customer focus. The position requires an individual with the willingness to work flexible hours and the ability to manage their own time in order to meet deadlines.

The role is ‘hands on’ and requires the incumbent to perform various physical activities and manual tasks including (but not limited to) lifting, lowering, walking, bending, squatting and standing for extended periods, and using hand or power equipment.

Important with the context of this position is the requirement for the team member to perform other duties including but not limited to waste disposal to ensure all mandated services are delivered as per the scope of the contract.
