**About the role**

RPC Dalby Pty Ltd is seeking a full-time Environmental Consultant to join our team located in Dalby, Queensland. In this essential role, you will be responsible for assessing and managing the environmental impact of various piggery farm operations and activities, offering expert advice on environmental issues, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The following duties are the major responsibilities of the position, but will not be purely

limited to these duties:
Environmental Compliance & Monitoring
- Ensure piggery operations comply with local, state, and federal environmental

legislation (e.g. EPA, APL, environmental licences)
- Develop and maintain Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)
- Conduct regular site audits and environmental impact assessments across all sites
- Monitor and report on key environmental metrics: water quality, odour, effluent

discharge, soil condition, nutrient runoff, air quality
- Optimize energy usage across the farm operations, including monitoring and reducing

electricity consumption.
- Maximize the use of solar energy by overseeing and maintaining solar power systems

and regularly monitoring solar energy performance data.
- Conduct research and propose practical solutions for utilizing methane gas produced

in the piggery, including the development or implementation of biogas systems for

renewable energy generation.

Farm Expansion and Development Support
- Lead or support environmental feasibility assessments for proposed expansions (new

sheds, increased animal numbers, land acquisition)
- Coordinate environmental studies and technical reports needed for council

submissions.
- Work closely with engineers and planners on sustainable and regulatory compliant

farm designs.
- Provide strategic guidance on site selection, lay-out and biosecurity zones.

Waste and Effluent Management
- Design, implement, and monitor effluent management systems
- Oversee the storage, treatment, and reuse of piggery effluent

spreading schedules)

Water and Resource Management
- Monitor water usage and ensure sustainable water management practices
- Identify opportunities for water recycling, waste reduction, and energy efficiency
- Support improvements to on-farm drainage, stormwater management, and runoff

control

Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare environmental reports, audits, and submissions for regulators and industry

bodies (e.g. APL, EPA)
- Maintain accurate records of monitoring activities, incidents, and corrective actions
- Liaise with consultants, regulators, local councils, and industry partners as needed

Sustainability & Advisory
- Provide strategic guidance on sustainable farm practices and innovations
- Advise on environmental risks and mitigation strategies during farm expansions or

infrastructure upgrades
- Support staff training on environmental best practices and compliance
