The Reconsiderations function manages requests for reconsideration within EML’s Comcare Self Insurance Group, in accordance with the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act). Reconsiderations are the formal internal review mechanism under the SRC.
This will be a **permanent** position commencing **from October** based in the **Canberra** office, with flexibility to work from home.
**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Independently review determinations within statutory time frames.
- Ensure determinations comply with contractual, legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Complete reconsideration determinations.
- Analyse determinations and provide feedback where required.
- Complete allocation of reconsiderations across the Comcare Self Insurance Group to ensure fair distribution if officer unable to complete.
- Maintain a register or claims management system outing dates due, person completing reconsideration and outcomes.
- Provide monthly reports outlining decisions maintained, overturned, upheld etc. to Claims Manager for further analysis (if required).
**ABOUT YOU**
- Extensive Workers Compensation experience.
- Strong experience interpreting and working in legislative and compensable insurance schemes.
- Legal or internal review experience is desirable.
- Thorough understanding of the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act.
- Effective decision-making and time management skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
