The University runs the ANU Indigenous Trainee and Apprentice Program in partnership with the Australian Training Company (ATC), which provides services to local areas to recruit and provide ongoing support for trainees and administer trainee-ships.

**Position overview**

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides corporate IT services to ANU staff, students and visitors in support of achieving excellence in research, teaching and public policy. These services include network, communications, computing platforms, data storage, desktop and mobile access, enterprise systems, student learning environments, and IT security. The work of ITS is coordinated with services provided within and by University Colleges and other Service Divisions to form a cohesive, University-wide information services infrastructure.

The ITS Service Desk provides IT desktop support to staff and students of the ANU in support of research, education and administration. As part of the services, the team provides a Standard Operating Environment (SOE) for all Information Commons (IC) computers on campus as well as for ANU staff. The Service Desk is responsible for hardware and software support and management and currently supports over 2,500 desktop computers.

Our Indigenous Australian IT Trainee is responsible for providing client-focused technical support for desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals used at the ANU to combine the theoretical knowledge gained through their certificate with hands-on experience being learned on the job. An integral part of this role is providing the first point of contact for IT-related support in a Service Desk environment.
