**About us**
The Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) leads innovation in clinical care across NSW. We do this by bringing clinicians, patients and healthcare managers together to design and implement new ways to deliver healthcare.
**What you will be doing**
A Health Economist /Biostatistician position is funded for 6 months to review and if needed, improve the current operating theatre productivity index (OTPI).
In 2014, the ACI released a guide to the efficient management of operating theatres in NSW hospitals - ACI Operating Theatre Efficiency Guidelines (the ACI Guidelines). The ACI Guidelines identified that there has been an expressed desire for the development of a standardised method of assessing OT productivity. The OTPI was developed in 2015 to assist in measuring productivity for elective surgery in NSW to assist in informing strategic and operation decisions for efficient theatre management. The index was piloted in three hospitals in 2017-18 and it is essential to review/confirm if the concept and methodology remains valid, useful and feasible to the system, given a considerable impact on elective surgery service in NSW during COVID-19.
