About Southport State School
Southport State School is a coeducational school, located within the suburb of Southport on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia. Our school currently has 530 students enrolled from Prep to Year 6. Our school prides itself on a strong history of academic, sporting, cultural and community excellence. About the Role
As a Deputy Principal of the Senior School (Years 4-6), you will play a crucial role in promoting innovative pedagogical approaches, driving v9 of the Australian Curriculum and ensuring the social wellbeing of students and staff through positive behaviour for learning processes. This role will focus on supporting staff, students and stakeholders in creating a safe and supportive learning community. You will provide strategic advice which is evidence and data informed to the principal and Leadership Team where required.
As the Deputy Principal of Years 4-6 at Southport, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Promoting and sustaining a positive school culture that prioritises wellbeing, inclusivity, behaviour and curriculum support for all students, staff and stakeholders through a high level of interpersonal skills;
Providing high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective curriculum and pedagogical practices;
Working with, and building teachers' capability in using data to provide effective differentiated instruction to a diverse student cohort;
Assessing the effectiveness of pedagogical approaches and current policies or procedures by ongoing monitoring and evaluation and working alongside staff;
Develop the quality of teaching and learning with a focus on the science of reading and innovative pedagogical approaches;
Knowledge and understanding of PBL practices would be highly regarded;
Lead and work with students, staff, parents, cluster high schools and external agencies to assist students in transitioning smoothly to high school.
