**The opportunity**:
You will be part of the Insurance for NSW division icare, a unique and nimble team that collaboratively provide insurance and a range of services to all NSW government agencies, allowing Agencies to provide continuous delivery of best practice services to the community.

As Health, Loss Prevention Manager (internally referred to as Risk Management Specialist within icare) you will be reporting to the Underwriting Manager and work collaboratively with Team Members and internal stakeholders to influence the liabilities for the NSW government through loss prevention and intervention strategies for government agencies. You’ll be playing a vital role in researching, developing and making recommendations to improve the performance of our Health agencies by reducing risk exposure, frequency and severity of claims, identifying and prioritising approaches that will have the greatest impact on the sustainability of the portfolio risk.

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a **Health, Loss Prevention Manager (Risk Management Specialist) **you will:

- Hold difficult conversations with key government agencies groups to influence their approach to operational risk management and loss prevention (with a strong focus on patient safety) and to encourage a risk prevention mindset in their management of risk.
- Lead inter-Agency collaboration and information-sharing around best practice to drive sustainable solutions that minimise risk exposure, frequency, severity and encourage appropriate risk avoidance or minimisation opportunities
- Collaborate with underwriters on prevention and intervention strategies which have proved successful for government and non-government organisations in similar circumstances
- Identify, investigate and develop effective mitigation options for emerging risks in conjunction with government, industry groups and regulatory bodies.
- Design and operationalise the risk management strategy including tailoring a client offering to incentivise risk management practices by linking performance to pricing.

**Your story so far**:

- Have experience in recognised operational or insurance risk management qualification (minimum Cert IV) or higher, certified practising risk manager.
- You have professional memberships with appropriate risk management bodies such as ANZIFF, RMIA or GARP.
- Clinical experience or established background working within the health sector.
- Minimum 5 years of risk engineering expertise with demonstrated ability to perform health risk assessments and /or provide desktop reviews, in particular with a focus on patient safety.
- Have risk management, loss prevention (or related) qualifications or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through practical experience in health or health administration organisations.
- Sound experience in the insurance industry, preferably in medical malpractice or general liability.
- Sound knowledge and experience in contract liability management.
- Experience in identifying cyber risks and strengthening cyber resilience is desirable.
