With over 500 acres of grounds, our dedicated Grounds department at Australia Zoo is primarily responsible for the development of the grounds and facilities.
The Grounds Supervisor will work within the Zoo and The Crocodile Hunter Lodge to maintain and care for grounds, gardens and plants along with successfully leading a team of hard working individuals who care for them. They are required to be multi-skilled and have a passion for Australian Fauna.
**Duties May Include**:
- Mowing and Whipper-snipper use.
- Weeding, pruning, mulching, planting and general gardening.
- Watering and irrigation maintenance.
- Facilitate training and Supervise allocated department staff to ensure all KPI’s and department objectives are being met daily.
- Tend to gardens and grounds throughout Australia Zoo and The Crocodile Hunter Lodge in both Front of House and Back of House areas and along all access roads.
- Provide a high standard of customer service throughout all interactions with guests.
- Report on any concerns and provide feedback and recommendations within the area of your care to the Grounds Manager, providing recommendations for areas of improvement.
**Essential Criteria**:
- Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Suitable level of fitness & wellbeing to safely perform the duties outdoors.
- Knowledge and passion for Native Fauna.
- Previous grounds/maintenance experience.
- Experience operating machinery, such as 4WD’s and other vehicles.
- Hold current Manual Driver’s Licence.
- Q-fever Vaccination (or exemption).
