ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Offender Services and Integration Manager, the First Nations Cultural Support Worker is responsible for developing and lead services that are sensitive to the cultural needs of First Nations People with a view to increase protective factors and decreasing risk factors that reduce the likelihood of re-offending.
This is a designated position meaning that only persons identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander may apply.
RESPONSIBILTIES
**The core responsibilities of this role are to**:
- Facilitate the engagement of First Nations People into education, programs and employment.
- Develop and maintain data collection systems to monitor and track engagement and outcomes.
- Review best practice guidelines and use data to inform the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services delivered.
- Provide quarterly and any ad-hoc reports to Offender Services and Integration Manager on service delivery and outcomes.
- Monitoring the social and emotional wellbeing of our First Nations People and providing referrals to appropriate support services as necessary.
- Assist in the coordination of cultural activities including NAIDOC Week and other significant First Nation events.
**The essential requirements from you**:
- A demonstrated knowledge of First Nations Culture, History and the impacts of Inter-generational Trauma.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations Community.
- The ability to work collaboratively with members of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Able to demonstrate positive relations and network with local First Nations Community and Elders.
