**About the Role**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Provide Day-to-Day Support**: Assist the participant in maintaining a structured daily routine, supporting personal care, light household tasks, and meal preparation as needed, while promoting his independence in tasks he is comfortable managing.
- **Community Access Support**: Facilitate the participant’s involvement in community activities, such as attending local events, church, and other social gatherings, to support his social inclusion and well-being. Encourage positive experiences by helping him navigate social situations at his own pace, providing reassurance, and respecting his comfort levels in various settings.
- **Build a Trusting Relationship**: Foster a calm and friendly rapport by engaging the participant in low-pressure, positive activities. Understand his comfort levels with social interaction and adapt accordingly to avoid overwhelming him.
- **Implement Mental Health Support Strategies**: Use de-escalation techniques and a patient approach to help manage moments of anxiety or overwhelm, providing calm and consistent support in line with his routines and preferences.
- **Support Communication and Information Processing**: Keep communication simple and clear, mindful of the participant’s need to avoid complex information. Engage his family in conversations when additional clarification or guidance is beneficial.
- **Collaborate with Family**: Work closely with the participant’s family, respecting their insights and guidance to ensure seamless, consistent support. Maintain open communication with them to align care approaches, share observations, and adapt strategies as needed.
- **Encourage Independence and Confidence**: Assist the participant in activities that encourage self-sufficiency, respecting his capabilities and providing support only when necessary to foster confidence and independence.
- **Monitor Well-Being and Safety**: Be alert to any changes in the participant’s mood or behavior, ensuring a safe, supportive environment. Communicate any concerns with the family promptly to support continuous, coordinated care.
- **Respect Privacy and Boundaries**: Understand and respect the participant’s need for privacy and independence, supporting his autonomy in all interactions.
**Requirements**:
- National Police Check
- Working with Children Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Certificate I I I In Disability Or Mental Health or Equivalent
**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $31.46 per hour
Schedule:
- Afternoon shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Rotating roster
- Weekend availability
Licence/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (required)
- Working with Children Check (required)
- National Police Certificate (required)
- Driver Licence (preferred)
Work Authorisation:
- Australia (required)
