**In this role you will**: - Lead the delivery of professional financial accounting services and advice to departmental management in areas including statutory reporting, interpretation of policy, legislation and standards and delivery of the annual financial statements. Monitor financial management compliance with respect to the Financial Accountability Act, Financial Performance Standard, the Financial Management Framework and other relevant legislation. Oversee the successful delivery of strategic and operational asset accounting services. Oversee the delivery of the department's financial governance function, policy and procedures development and review processes, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders to enable the department to meet its obligations established under the Government's financial management framework - legislation, guidelines and accounting standards. Lead the interpretation and development of financial policy and financial impact assessment on proposed departmental reforms and initiatives. Lead and cultivate high performing teams through effective leadership, empowerment of staff, supportive feedback on performance and promotion of professional development. Lead multiple teams to deliver corporate financial operational functions, governance and integrated projects to achieve business outcomes. Lead the delivery of customer centric financial services by embedding a culture of understanding and delivering on customer expectations and actively contributing to positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Represent the department in high level forums, consultations and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders and clients including Queensland Treasury, Queensland Audit Office and other external parties. Contribute to the achievement of the Finance and Corporate Operations vision through the provision of strategic advice, active participation in the senior management team, promoting a collegiate approach to activities across the division and the successful implementation of divisional plans. Other duties as directed and required.This position requires: - No mandatory requirements however, it would be preferable for the applicant to possess accounting qualifications such as a relevant degree and CPA/CA status, as this is considered to be highly desirable given the technical nature of the role.
