**About Great River City Light Rail**
- Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.
**The role**
- The Communication & Control Technician will be responsible for performing corrective and preventive maintenance activities on the Light Rail operation technology systems including, installing, testing, commissioning, fault finding, and maintaining of telecommunications networks, DCN switches, radios, signalling control system and routine maintenance of systems, assisting with infrastructure, and rectifying faults.
As part of this role you will:
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving signalling and communication system faults (hardware, software, and network)
- Configuring and supporting IT networks (switches, firewalls, VLANs, routing)
- Continual improvement of Preventative Maintenance procedures
**What you bring**
With a background in Networking / IT your demonstrated skills set will likely include:
- IT/Networking VLANs, IP addressing, and basic firewall concepts
- Windows/Linux servers, workstation support, and basic virtualization
- CCTV systems (Bosch, Genetec) and Access Control
- Audio and Radio systems
- Demonstrated experience and/or ability to learn new technologies
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to work collaboratively in a team
